Out of Control

July 24, 2010

What’s wrong with this picture? After frantically searching for the past fifteen minutes in the junk drawer, the night stand, and the coffee table, I was still unable to find the right remote control to play my vintage copy of Star Wars on laser disc. I’m fairly sure there’s a box out in the shed containing another dozen or so remote controls, one of which will surely fire up my twelve-year old LD player. In the end, I said screw it and watched a rerun of Jaws on AMC.

I’m guessing that this illustrates one of the following:

A) I have been enslaved by the electronics industry for the past 30 years

B) Electronics have changed way too much over the past 30 years

C) Over the past 30 years the electronic industry, which is largely owned by the North Koreans, has trained mankind to sit on his ass and push buttons as part of a grand scheme by those same North Koreans to make Americans fat and lazy so they can invade the United States and live the good life in Dubuque, Iowa.

D) All of the above
