Well, it’s not exactly legal, but it’s a lot less illegal now, thanks to Arnold and Senate Bill 1449. This means Californians who get caught with a one-ounce bag will now receive a civil infraction (a ticket) and a $100 fine (a lot less expensive than a sack of pot, that’s for sure).
No more arrests, no jail, no attorneys, no hassle. And with some 600,000 people arrested for possession last year in California, think how much money the state will save on legal expenses.
Maybe you don’t like pot, but I’ll say this in its defense: I’ve seen a lot of bar fights, but I’ve never seen any bong fights. About the worst thing that happens when you smoke too much pot is you’ll eat all the Doritos and fall asleep watching reruns of Gilligan’s Island.
That, and you’ll probably get stupid after 30 or 40 years of daily use…but I’ve seen some stupid drunks as well.
If I still smoked pot, and if I lived in California, it would be a good day. Thank you, Governor. It’s good to see a politician make a smart decision once in a while.
Damn hippies…
