Dumb Asses

August 24, 2010

Arizonans are an adventurous lot come monsoon season. For some reason, they seem to forget some basic laws of physics and insist on driving on through that flooded wash. After all, it’s just a little water, right? It can’t really be that deep.

Which is why our loyal public servants created the Stupid Motorist Law, hoping that by fining the shit out of those reckless souls it might keep them out of the running water, as if losing one’s vehicle isn’t enough punishment. Certainly it wasn’t enacted as another revenue gatherer, similar to the red-light cameras popping up at every intersection around town. I think the law was a mistake, and in this case we should let Darwin take over.

Let them float, I say; it would mean one less moron on the road. And if they make it through, good for them, they get to go home for dinner that much sooner. If not, it will bolster lagging car sales, thus helping our economy. It’s a win-win for everyone.
